What I Learned About Life, Writing, and Overcoming Adversity

Every story has a beginning, and mine started with a simple realization: I had a story worth telling. But even with that fire inside, I didn’t know where to start. The first thing I had to learn was the difference between an autobiography and a memoir. That small distinction turned out to be a game-changer.

An autobiography is your life story—a timeline of events from birth to the present. A memoir, on the other hand, focuses on a specific time or theme in your life. When I figured that out, I knew what I wanted to write: a memoir about overcoming adversity and changing my life.

But knowing what I wanted to write didn’t mean I knew how. So, I did what many of us do when we’re stuck—I turned to YouTube. I binge-watched video after video, did hours of research, and finally sat down to start writing.

Writing My Memoir

What followed was one of the hardest, longest years of my life. Writing a memoir isn’t just about putting words on a page; it’s about confronting your past. It’s revisiting moments of pain, triumph, and transformation. For me, it was about telling my truth—raw, unfiltered, and unapologetic.

Change The Game: A Memoir

When I finished, my memoir, Change The Game, became more than just my story. It became a message for others: You can overcome, you can transform, and you can rewrite your narrative.

From Memoir to Self-Help

As I reflected on the memoir, I realized it held lessons that could help others. So I decided to write Change Your Game, a self-help guide inspired by my journey. While the memoir shared my story, the self-help guide was about giving people the tools to change their own lives.

Building an Educational Program

But I wasn’t done yet. Writing those books showed me the power of storytelling—a way to inspire and empower others. That’s when I decided to create an educational program based on both Change The Game and Change Your Game. My goal? To teach others how to tell their stories, overcome their struggles, and take control of their future.

Your Turn to Change the Game

If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that everyone has a story worth telling. The hard part is believing in it and taking the first step. For me, it started with learning the difference between an autobiography and a memoir. For you, it might start here, with this blog, or with one sentence written on a blank page.

Wherever you are in your life, I hope my story inspires you to take that step. Because if I can do it, so can you.
